Ballarat Health Services is committed to improving the health and well being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through ensuring equity in access to high quality, culturally sensitive health services. Ballarat Health Services acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land and is honoured to provide care and services for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people seeking services.

Aboriginal Health Liaison Officers

Ballarat Health Services employs Aboriginal Health Liaison Officers who provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing care and services.

  • Provide emotional, social and cultural support to patients and their families;
  • Advocate and liaise on behalf of patients, their families and hospital staff;
  • Provide information about hospital services;
  • Talk about your discharge plan;
  • Talk about referral options and help to connect you with other services in the community;
  • Talk to doctors and nurses, at your request;
  • Attend appointments and meetings to ensure that medical staff understand your needs and that you understand medical information and processes involved in your care.

You and your family’s right to privacy and confidentiality will always be respected.

Liaison Officer Business Hours

Monday - Friday: 8.30am to 5pm

Not available on weekends or public holidays.
