Allied Health Services

The Allied Health service

Allied Health consists of nine different disciplines operating across the entire health care continuum at Ballarat Health Services. These are: Dietetics, Exercise Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Prosthetics/Orthotics, Psychology, Social Work, and Speech Pathology. These professional groups are supported by Allied Health Assistants, and Program Assistants.

Each of the disciplines has a Clinical Manager responsible for both the clinical and operational aspects of their professional group. The group of Clinical Managers (the Allied Health Clinical Management Team) work together to ensure all aspects of clinical and corporate governance is attended to, and works to make the culture of allied health a collegial one.

Therapeutic interventions in Allied Health are provided on a priority system based on organisational imperatives, as well as client need and potential to benefit.

The Directorate fosters evidence based practice facilitated by the Associate Professor of Allied Health, and is committed to service review and continuous quality improvement facilitated by the Allied Health Quality Coordinator.

Included within the Directorate are Community based programs under the leadership of the Manager of Community Programs.
