Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Clinic

Description of Service

The ABI Program provides assessment, treatment and coordination of care for people with an ABI. The program focuses on a person’s rehabilitation goals and support needs while providing education and support for family members, as appropriate.

Many of the patients referred are aged between 6 and 65 years and have sustained a moderate to severe brain injury. However, patients with mild brain injuries presenting to the Emergency Department are also referred for follow up through the ABI Program.

Fees

Clients attending services within the Community Health and Community Rehabilitation programs will be charged a small fee for therapy services. There are no fees for care coordination, case work or education for patients or family members. Information and training sessions are provided free of charge within the region.
