Medical Units

The Medical Units provide a wide range of acute medical services for inpatients, such as those with respiratory, cardiac, renal, neurological and oncological conditions.
Ballarat Health Services team of professional staff consists of nursing and medical working in close liaison with allied health services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and dietetics.
Level four of the Base Hospital's Medical Services building (refer to map) specialise in cancer, stroke and cardiology care.
There are designated beds for Telemetry reception enabling patients to be remotely monitored by the Coronary Care Unit.
The multidisciplinary team works closely with sub-acute and community support services to ensure ongoing care is planned and coordinated after patients leave the acute hospital setting.
Admission to the units is via the Emergency Department.

Dialysis Unit

The Dialysis Unit was formally opened by the Minister for Health in July 2004.
The 12 station state-of-the-art facility allows Ballarat Health Services to meet the increasing demand for heamodialysis services.
The service is a satellite unit of the Royal Melbourne Hospitals North West Dialysis Service and provides a support service to other rural satellite units.
Holiday dialysis enquiries are welcome any time.
