Testing of asymptomatic members of the general public started today Testing of asymptomatic members of the general public started today

We have tested over 500 people in Ballarat today after opening a pop-up testing site for asymptomatic (no symptoms) members of the general public.

The Victorian Government has announced a massive expansion of testing, which will help inform decisions about slowly lifting restrictions ahead of the State of Emergency being reviewed on 11 May.

On Monday 5th May we tested an amazing 520 people across our key sites in Ballarat:

  • Morshead Park (asymptomatic general public) 137
  • Base Hospital (asymptomatic BHs staff) 154
  • Sebastopol clinic (symptomatic general public) 99
  • Lucas Clinic (symptomatic general public) 130

Asymptomatic

We have set up a temporary testing clinic at Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility, Morshead Park to test people with no symptoms who have been keeping our town running while we have been staying home – supermarket workers, healthcare workers, construction teams.

If you haven’t been able to work from home and haven’t got any symptoms, we urge you to be tested. The temporary testing clinic for asymptomatic (no symptoms) members of the general public is open 9 – 5 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week. Ensure you have your Medicare card with you.

Symptomatic

If you have mild cold or flu symptoms you are strongly encouraged to get tested at either the Lucas or Sebastopol clinics.

The test itself is via a nasal and mouth swab which takes about 3 minutes.  There is no cost to have the test, and average wait times at clinics has been less than 30 minutes.

Ensure you have your Medicare card with you.

UFS Lucas Clinic - Appointments must be made by calling 03 43 11 1571 or by booking online here
BHS Sebastopol Clinic - Appointments for this week must be made by calling 03 5320 8889

The more people we test, the better we can track the spread of the virus and decide next steps.
