Book Trolley delivers stories and smiles to our patients

The much-loved book trolley at Ballarat Base Hospital now has a dedicated trolley, thanks to the generosity of eight donors who made this project possible.

Previously, volunteers June and Heather had to find and set up a trolley each time they made their rounds.

Now, with a dedicated book trolley permanently stocked and ready to go, they can spend less time organising and more time doing what they do best—bringing comfort to patients through books, magazines, newspapers and a friendly chat.

This service provides reading materials and offers patients a sense of normalcy, and connection during their hospital stay.

Whether it’s a novel to escape into, a sudoku puzzle to stay engaged, the latest newspaper to keep up with the world, all items are free to take and enjoy.

We are incredibly grateful to the donors who made this possible and to our dedicated volunteers, June and Heather, whose kindness and support continue to brighten our patients’ day.
