Volunteers tour new CEP building
With Maureen the 43-metre tower crane helping to build the first building part of the Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment, it was only fitting that our wonderful volunteers who the crane represented was one of the first groups to tour the new facility.
About 15 volunteers toured the new building on Drummond Street last week, visiting the new Pharmacy, Pathology and Deakin University, all frequent destinations for hospital visitors seeking directions.
Manager of Volunteer Services Leah Ferguson, attended the tour along with Maureen Woodford, in whose honour the crane was named.
Leah said the tour provided her dedicated group of volunteers with a better understanding of the new locations they now direct visitors to from the volunteer welcome desk at the Drummond Street entrance of the hospital.
“Our volunteers are an invaluable support arm for our healthcare service. Over the past 18 months, they have played a crucial role in guiding visitors during construction works and will continue to do so,” Leah said.
“The volunteers were thoroughly impressed by the modern design and advanced features of the CEP building. They appreciated the attention to detail in the construction and the thoughtful integration of technology to improve the overall experience for everyone who will use the facility. The tour also provided them with valuable insights into the building’s construction process, highlighting the innovative techniques and materials used to create a safe and efficient environment.”
