Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Services (VPRS)

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service caters for children and adolescents, who require specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation. The rehabilitation may be as an inpatient at the Royal Childrens Hospital or Monash Medical Centre or within the community at all sites.

We can provide therapy in the home, school or community depending on what would be most useful.

To be eligible for the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service, the young person should:

• Be aged between 0-18 years
• Have had an acquired injury, medical/surgical impairment or functional impairment
• Have moderate to high complexity rehabilitation needs and/or require time-limited and goal-focused programs
• Requires an interdisciplinary team approach to achieve their rehabilitation goals

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service has a range of options to suit individuals. We will contact you on receipt of a referral, to discuss your individual issues.

• Returning to home, school, sport and hobbies
• Reconnecting with peers after hospitalisation
• Intensive rehabilitation post-orthopaedic surgery
• BONT-A clinic
• Reconditioning post-illness
• Assessment clinic for advice on treatment and intervention

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service is made up of health professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including:

• Rehabilitation Paediatrician
• Neuropsychology
• Occupational Therapy
• Physiotherapy
• Social Work
• Speech Pathology
• Prosthetics & Orthotics

BONT-A and assessment clinics run on Fridays

Referrals can be made by Paediatricians, General Practitioners, Health Professionals, Paediatric Service Providers or families.
