An Echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart, using a machine very similar to that used for pregnancy ultrasound. We are able to assess heart muscle and valve function, as well as check for congenital problems, such as “hole in the heart”.  We perform studies on patients of all ages from newborn onwards.

What to expect?

No preparation is required. It is helpful with younger patients (especially babies) if you could bring along a bottle or food to feed them at the time of the study, to help distract them, if they are likely to become upset.
